The Kayleigh's Wee Stars Barra 10K will return in 2024. The provisional date for the race will be Saturday the 25th May and entries are now open. We were delighted with all the support for the 2023 event - the TeamKWS runners, marshals, sponsors and visitors - and we can't wait to see you all again in 2024.
This is a popular and challenging multi terrain trail over the Barra Hill with spectacular views across the North East countryside. The atmosphere is welcoming and fun and has something for everyone. It's family friendly too with Active Schools organising junior races taking place before the main event.
To enter, click on the button below. You can also register your children for the Active Schools races by clicking on the button listed below.
Don't miss out, this is definitely one to include in your 2024 calendar.

We are fortunate to have the support of many local businesses who are sponsoring this event meaning all monies raised from this 10K will go directly to the families in need of support.
The start (and finish) is at Oldmeldrum Academy leading on to the fields at the foot of the Barra Hill where you will enter the cross country section of the course. We would urge caution on this section where you will be running on uneven ground.
The climb to the summit of Barra Hill is about 1km and from there you will enjoy panoramic views of Aberdeenshire. The route then takes you onto the Bourtie Road for a fast, downhill second half road section of the course as you wind back into Oldmeldrum.
The entire route will be well signposted and supported by marshals every step of the way.
£22 non-affiliated runners (This entry fee is compulsory and provides you with race insurance for the day)

Parking
Parking may be available at Meldrum Academy and we will confirm the arrangements as soon as we can. We would encourage those who live locally to walk where possible to ease congestion. Once details are confirmed with local businesses and Meldrum Academy, Marshals will be on hand in the morning to organise event parking in the following locations:
1. Meldrum Academy
2. Meldrum Medical Practice
3. Hoodles Childcare
4. Glenrock
5. Within Meldrum Business Industrial Estate
Facilities
We are aiming to have full use of Meldrum Academy facilities for the morning – changing rooms and toilets. However, depending on COVID-19 regulations, we may ask runners to arrive ready to race and move registration outdoors.
Bag Drop
We will have a bag drop available on the day. When you pick up your race number at registration, there will be a baggage strip attached. Simply tear off the baggage strip, attach it to your bag and take it to the lorry trailer or van where we will safely store your bag until after the race.
Road Crossings for Runners
There are a few road crossings as you leave and return to Meldrum Academy, all of which will be heavily marshalled. However, the roads will not be closed and marshals do not have the authority to stop traffic. The marshals are there to support you, but ultimately it is the responsibility of each and every runner to cross the road safely.
Finisher Goodies
10K - Medal, Water, Chocolate.
Junior Races - Medal, Water, Sweeties
Wheel Chair Entries
Unfortunately we cannot allow wheel chairs to enter as part of the planned route because the Barra Hill is not suitable and is impassable with a wheel chair. However, if you are a wheel chair user, and you are keen to participate, we would love to accommodate in some way. Please email us on info@kayleighsweestars.co.uk and we will work together to create an appropriate route.
Course Records
Myles Edwards - 34.22 (2023)
Emma Murray - 44.16 (2022)
Sponsors
We are hugely grateful for the support of our sponsors. Their contributions mean that absolutely all of the money raised from this event’s entry fee, will be going directly to families where there is a child with a terminal diagnosis. Thank you for your continued support and we look forward to seeing you all again in 2024.
